Shear strain gauges

Shear Strain Gauges

Shear strain gauges are commonly used in applications where shear or torque stresses are measured. The shear strain gauge consist of a single measuring grid on a backing, usually directed into a 45° angle position with reference to the solder tab position. Torque sensors or measurement of torsion on a shaft are common applications for these kind of strain gauges.

All Zemic shear strain gauges are temperature and creep compensated. They are produced in a state-of-the-art production facility and are carefully selected. All our strain gauges are optimized for the application of use and offer a stable and reliable result.

On the product page you will find the datasheet with all technical specifications. This shows which variants of the shear strain gauge we can supply.

To order your strain gauge(s), you can also use our strain gauge selector. You can choose the exact specifications of the strain gauge you need (like material and dimensions) and then we will contact you to help you further.

We offer many different variants. These strain gauges differ in the following characteristics:

- Grid Material; Constantan foil or Karma foil.
- Type of backing material; Modified phenolic, Special Polyimide or PEEK film.
- Rated Resistance; varies from 60 Ohm till 1000 Ohm
- Length of the sensitivity grid in mm
- Wiring: different lengths and types
- Self temperature or self elastic modulus compensation code.
