What does Ingress Protection mean and how does Zemic Europe communicate this?

Ingress Protection (IP) is the degree of protection against the intrusion of dust and water. The degree of protection can be found on the datasheet of every load cell model. All Zemic Europe models are completely protected against dust ingress and are therefore classified as IP6X.

On each Zemic Europe loadcell datasheet,  you can find a logo in the shape of a tear. On the loadcell datasheet it is displayed like this:

 ip69K loadcell marking

We define the following IP values:

First Character  (Protection against solid objects)                    Second Character  (Protection against liquids)
6 = Totally protected against dust   4 = Protection against water splashed from any direction
    5 = Protection against low-pressure jets of water
    6 = Protection against strong jets of water
    7 = Protection against 15 to 100 cm immersion
    8 = Protection against long periods of immersion at a depth of 100cm or more

9K = Protection against high-pressure water jets from all directions,
14 to 16 l/min, 8000 to 10000 kPa, 80°C, 30 sec, 10 to 15 cm distance.

All our hermetically sealed load cells are IP68. You can recognize them when the second letter of the load cell is a "M".

Like our BM6G, BM8H, BM8G, HM8, BM11, BM14G4, BM14A, BM14C, BM24R load cells

Zemic loadcells are totally protected against dust! We have classified loadcells for protection against liquids in classes 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and even 9K!
